“Abama” is the new Tenerife golf course opened only May 2005 situated within 20 mins of Las Americas/Los cristianos.

Amarilla Golf & Country Club

On the southern coast of Tenerife, just bordering the sea, we find the Amarilla Golf and Country Club. The character of the 18-hole course is marked by the incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean which, without a doubt, inspired golf architect Donald Steel.

Buenavista

This gem of a golf course designed by the great severiano ballesteros was formally opened in the autumn of 2003.

Costa Adeje

Just 5 kilometers from Playa de las Americas, Golf Costa Adeje was created with the ambition of becoming the most important leisure development in the Canary Islands.

Golf del Sur

La Gomera

The island of Gomera opened its first 18 hole golf course in the spring of 2004.the course which has been designed by the well respected "donald steel & co". is a par 71 course measuring a total of 6,205 metres in length.

Golfing in Tenerife

Golfing holidays are very popular, and even more so in Tenerife. With year round playing conditions, and golf courses to suit all golf handicaps, it's the perfect place for beginners and pros alike.

Over the years, Tenerife golfing has been in the spotlight, hosting numerous tournaments.

In 1995, Golf del Sur hosted the Shell Wonderful World of Golf tournament and saw an excellent match between Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson.

In 2002, Golf del Sur was the venue for a new international tournament, this time for ladies’ golf, with the first Tenerife Ladies Open, as part of the Evian LPGA European Tour, won by Spanish golfer Raquel Carriedo. This was the first ladies open golf tournament to be held in Spain for many years.

In 2004, Buenavista Golf course was the venue for the LPGA Tenerife Ladies Open.

The Tenerife Ladies Open, which was the first of the Ladies European Tour’s season on European soil, took place at the prestigious Abama Hotel Resort in Guia Isora, on 27 – 30 April 2006. The tournament was, for the first time in its history, played on the Dave Thomas designed golf course which opened in 2004 and played host to the hugely successful Abama Open de Canarias in 2005.

Also, in July 2005, Bill Clinton himself stayed in Tenerife, at Abama, and played a round of golf.
