The resort of Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife is about to receive an over 11million euro cash injection to its tourism industry, according to recent reports.
The announcement revealed that the money will be spent on various projects in the resort town, including a general repair and remodelling of buildings and pavements.
The La Paz district will also get a get a complete revamp and Martianez beach will be renovated to improve the coastal area. Finally, a team in the local Town Council will work to promote Puerto de la Cruz, to both Spanish and international tourism markets.
Padron Rodriguez, Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, said, “The money is a testament to the significance of the town as a major tourist destination.”
He said that the cash would “bring the town up to date following the general wear and tear that has occurred over the last 50 years to the booming tourist resort.”
Mr Rodriguez also indicated that all efforts were now being channelled into retaining the reputation of Puerto de la Cruz as a symbol of “excellence in tourism”.
