People considering a holiday in Tenerife this year have had their accommodation options boosted following the unveiling of a new hotel.

The 49-room, four-star Luz del Mar establishment was opened in the Los Silos area last week, Tenerife News reports.

Set in expansive gardens and located 200 metres from the sea, the hotel is expected to be popular with a particular audience as it is situated in the quiet north-west area of Tenerife.
The hotel has spent a long time in development, after the 15,000 square metre site was first bought in 1999 but construction did not begin until 2005.

There are 14 suites in the Luz del Mar hotel, while the establishment's public amenities include a restaurant, bar, hairdressing salon, sauna and gym.

Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands. Most tourists who come to Tenerife visit the south of the island, which is home to well-developed resorts such as Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos.
