Tenerife to host Kiteboarding championship

From the 9th to the 15th of August, Tenerife is going to be home to the prestigious World Kiteboarding Championship.

With over 150 entrants from a total of 12 countries - the event is set to be a lot of fun.  It is being held in El Medano, and provides a great chance for locals to face off against the worlds greatest!

Kiteboarding is a curious mix of surfing and Kiting - it really has to be seen to be believed, and the Tenerife leg will be no exception, since El Medano provides near perfect conditions for the sport.

Weather is 'The Hottest on record'

July was one of the hottest months ever recorded within Tenerife and the surrounding Canary Islands.

The MET office confirmed that the weather for this part of the world was 2 or 3 degrees higher than what would normally be expected for this time of the year.

We urge you to take all precautions necessary if you're out in the Sun in Tenerife.  Ensure you drink plenty of fluids - and alcohol isn't really considered a useful fluid!

Playa de La Arena beach recieves 22nd consecutive Blue Flag

Last Thursday, July 23rd, Playa de La Arena beach hosted an understated ceremony as they were awarded theier 22nd Blue Flag in a row.

These awards are given to beaches by the European Union for upholding stringent standards covering the enviroment, lifeguard and first aid services, and the quality of the beaches themselves.

This 22nd award makes Playa de La Arena beach the most decorated beach in all of Tenerife, quite a feat!

Finding A Great Beach In Tenerife

Tenerife is well known for it’s year round sun and great weather, but where are the best beaches?

The answer to this question is simple; it all depends on what you’re looking for.

If you’re after simple sunbathing, and don’t care about much else, you could do a lot worse than the main strip of Las Americas beach.  There’s also other fun things to do there such as Watersports, Paragliding, and much more.

The one possible drawback could be that it is considered the most touristy beach on the Island, and is quite packed the majority of the time.
