Telefonica to create 1000 new jobs

Telefonica, the leading telecoms company in Tenerife, is set to open brand new call centres within the Canary Islands.  It is anticipated that 400 will be created this year, and another 600 in 2013.

The call centres will be located in existing Telefonica buildings, split over the islands.

German giant Lidl to come to Tenerife

Lidl, the giant German discount chain of supermarket stores, announced yesterday that it has plans for 12 of it's supermarkets to open in the Canary Islands.  Five of these will be located in Tenerife, at La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, Granadilla, San Miguel, and Adeje. (more...)

Tenerife to spend millions on improvements

Adeje, Arona, Santiago del Teide and Puerto de la Cruz are in line to recieve 67,000,000 € in funding, in an attempt to boost Tourism.

Manuel Bermúdez (Tenerife's Councillor for Tourism) stated that the money was essential in order for Tenerife to remain a top choice for Holidaymakers and would be spent on improving the amenities, like the beaches, roads and walkways.

These plans could create up to 1000 jobs within the island over the next 3 or 4 years.

Tenerife Train Project To Start Next Year

Work on the planned multi-million euro train for the south of Tenerife will begin next year, according to the latest government report.

The ambitious project is expected to take almost seven years and is expected to be completed in 2017. (more...)
