Tenerife unveils first Bioclimatic Holiday Village
by DestinationTenerifeTenerifes list of achievements continues to grow - with the worlds largest collection of parrots in the North at Loro Parque, and Europe's largest waterpark in the South with Siam Park, the Island now contains the worlds first ever Bioclimatic Holiday Village.
Confused as to exactly what a Bioclimatic Holiday Village actually is? You're not alone. It's a collection of 25 houses which will serve as temporary bases for tourists, as well as testing units for the duration of this experiment.
The houses themselves run purely on naturally available energy, harnessing the power of wind and sun to power everything within the home. According to official statements, sensors will:
constantly feed back information on their temperature, humidity and air movement in order to determine which techniques are the most efficient
With a total of 15 years of development, and 13 million euros spent on actually implementing this village, it is a project that the whole world is watching with eager eyes on the outcome.
