Fuerteventura - Corralejo

by DestinationTenerife

We're not long back from a couple of weeks on Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, hence the lack of posts here lately. Following right on from that I got hit with a pretty bad cold and throat infection so that more or less stopped the posting too. Anyway, I'm almost back to normal, well at least as normal as usual so I thought I'd better start scribbling again. Corralejo Bay Corralejo is the main tourist resort on Fuerteventura. We chose the holiday at pretty much the last minute and, as we'd

Tenerife coastal clean sweep

by DestinationTenerife

It’s been a good year for the coast of Tenerife, the second annual campaign “La Mar De Limpia” promoted by the government, has cleared an amazing 1,200 kilos of rubbish from 6 zones. It is always an ongoing struggle to keep the shores clean but every effort really does make a difference and the involvement of 100’s of volunteers will help to spread the message about the need to protect the local environment. Winter Sun Holidays in Lanzarote

by DestinationTenerife

Winter Sun Holidays in Lanzarote Whilst the rest of Europe starts packing away the suntan lotion and beach chairs the Canary Islands are just gearing up for their busiest time of the year. Norwich International Airport has seen a major surge in passenger traffic and activity in the past few months, largely due to LTE deciding to base its flights to Spain at the facility this past July. There is now uncertainty about the carrier’s future, after it cancelled all flights late last week, and airport officials are saying that it will be difficult to re

El Sombrero Apartments, Los Gigantes, Tenerife - Simple and beautiful

by DestinationTenerife

I have been staying with my boyfriend and the El Sombrero for over two weeks from September to October and we both really enjoyed the place. We had a studio with sea view. The whole place, including the pool and all the surroundings were very clean. Everyone is very friendly there. I even left 5 euro for the chambermaid and she did not take them. :) There is a pretty big safe in the room that you can rent. I don't think we would have had problems...

Choosing Between the Canary Islands

by DestinationTenerife

Choosing which of the Canary Islands to visit is a real dilemma for the winter break tourist. All of the main seven islands, that are located just off the north African coastline, share similar climates, but the major differences lie in the way each of these islands has grown up and the level of urban development progression in each. Some of the resorts on these islands have their roots back in the 1950’s and so exhibit some dated and, for some, unattractive architecture while the resorts that
