Canary Islands surpass the rest of Spain for tourists
by DestinationTenerifeAccording to figures published last week, the Canary Islands hit a new high of over 947,000 tourists in October alone - this is a 15.7% increase over the 2010 figures for October. This means that Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote have once again dominated their nearest rivals for tourists, this time around beating Valenica in mainland Spain, who only saw a 10% increase over the same timeframe.
The figures for the year so far are telling a similar tale, with a 19.2% increase over the same period of 2010, which is nearly double the Balearics, who only managed a 10% increase.
With year round sun, and great deals on Hotels in Tenerife and the surrounding Islands, it seems more tourists are choosing the great deals available in the Canary Islands.
