Airport operator BAA has announced that it has put Gatwick Airport up for sale. BAA made the decision following a report by the Competition Commission that compelled the company to sell two of its three London airports in order to improve services for airlines and passengers. Andy Flower, managing director of Gatwick Airport, described the announcement as a "landmark moment" and said it was the right decision for staff, passengers and airline customers.
