Shopping in Tenerife
by DestinationTenerifeTenerife is a shopper’s paradise.
Apart from the local markets, there is a wide variety of shops on the island that cater for all tastes.
The obvious choices of goods include wines and spirits and cigarettes and cigars. These are considerably cheaper than the UK priced items, but please remember your customs allowance.
Tenerife also generally offers a wide range of electrical goods. These shops are the ideal places to practise your bartering skills, as the initial price that you will be quoted will be fairly high, but you can get a vast reduction if you try your hand at negotiation.
Throughout Playa De Las Americas and Los Cristianos there are many shops targeted at the tourist market. In Playa De Las Americas the most popular shopping area is the Safari Centre, where you will find many designer outlets. Some are at the upper end of the price bracket, and others offer discounted prices.
In Los Cristianos, along the main coastline and up towards the town centre, there are streets filled with shops and boutiques with known names such as Benetton.
If you wish to venture a little further afield, there are several large shopping outlets in the Santa Cruz area in the north of Tenerife.
El Corte Ingles is a department store in the centre of Santa Cruz town itself, that sells many designer label items.
Al Campo is a mall filled with stores including shoe shops, clothing stores such as C & A, and mobile telephone outlets. At the end of the mall you will find a vast store called Al Campo itself, that offers a huge variety of goods for sale at extremely low prices.
The other main shopping centre in the Santa Cruz area is Carrefour, which is a similar mall style centre with a large store on the top floor.
